Base wig has bangs. Let's get rid of some of that!

Note: I am using my Haydee (Gankutsuou) wig to add in more length to the bangs but this tutorial can be applied to any other character wigs.

01 MAKING THE EXTENTION

Instead of going to the trouble of finding extension that match in color and texture, what I did was cut half of the length from the left side of the wig. (I didn't need it anyway)

Next, I put rubber cement glue on two pieces of ribbon (the textured, non-shiny part) and put them between the two.

Wait until it dries, take the two ribbons apart (hair should be on both glued sides) and add more rubber cement glue on both, put them back together and wait a few more minutes.

Once it dries, sew rows of straight lines (small stitches) to keep the extension super tight and together. I sewed about 6-7 rows so no hairs can escape very easily.

Clip the excess hair strands and the side of the ribbon and taadaaa! The extension should be nice, clean, and flexible. :)

02 BEFORE SEWING IT IN

Find the place where you want the extension added, gather and clip the hair back, and pin it in place.

Before continuing, I really suggest that you use a wig form or something shaped like your head because otherwise the extension won't conform to the shape of your head so it might stick out or look lumpy/incorrect.

03 SEW IN THE EXTENSION

Pretty self explanatory.

I recommend sewing it through the machine for best results with a regular straight stitch but if for some reason you can't (like me) hand sewing it in works best too.

If you are using a wig form or something round, make sure you use a curved/round needle, otherwise it'll be a lot more difficult and messier.

04 THE FINISHED LOOK

Unclip the gathered hair and this is what it should look like with the extension. I trimmed my length diagonally for a specific style (and I'll probably trim it some more).

But as you can see, I've lengthened half of the bangs and it is now also fuller.

Fin! :)
